Free Online Classified AdsPromoting Your Site With Free Classified Ads

I think probably everyone knows about the free online classified ads sites that are out there and maybe just as many of you have actually used some of these sites to promote your businesses or your blogs or whatever. The question I have for you though is are you posting to these sites in a way that will provide you with quality results.

Now since all of these sites are free, and there are quite a few, the ROI that you are looking for is based on how much time you put into these sites. I mean, if you know what you are doing, if you have a successful strategy you can actually post a number of ads on a large number of sites and get some decent responses, but you do have to post a lot. Not very passive.

Keep It Simple and Keep it Short

One of the issues that many new to classified posting forget is that when posting an ad you aren’t there to explain anything. As a matter of fact, you want to err on the side of not posting enough information. You have to get folks to click on your link in the ad and that is your number one, main purpose in life on a free classified ad site. You aren’t here to talk about the ins and outs of why your business is so freakin’ awesome.

Post Free Online Classified Ads That Are Cool, Not Boring

I would rather post an ad that read something like this:

“Bad-ass Business Is Making People Money

No Experience required – Free Training

Go to: makemoneyeverywhere.com”

Now if I post something like this, I’m going to get a response from someone and it’s a hell of a lot better to post this info and get them to want to click on the link just to see what it is that to sit here and tell people over and over and over how cool your opportunity makes people because it’s so easy to make money from home from the comfort of your couch blah, blah, freakin’ blah!

This is a case of less is more.

Image is Everything, Be Professional In Your Look

If you can possibly swing it, and I know fifteen bucks a month is a real strain on the budget right now, but go out and get a domain name and then sign up with a small hosting account. I spend a whole $8 a month to host up to 25 domains. Get a fairly cool domain name and forward it to your affiliate or referral account. Don’t send out those www.wearesocoolfool.com/id=captgooseslick, sort of looks a little bit amateurish, wouldn’t you say?

Compare a link like that to www.makemoneyonlinenow.com – not that make money online now is available, but you get the message.

Just using these 2 simple tips will help you in terms of getting that click rate up. Just focus on the fact that you don’t have to be the hippest marketer on the planet, rather you just need people to click on those links. That’s the first part of how we generate some good traffic from free online classified ads.

How to Write Good Ad Copy

how to write good ad copyHow to Write Good Ad Copy For Classified Ads

One of the methods that I describe on my training site www.markgrahammarketing.com is posting on classified ad sites and this works very well, but you must also make sure that you know how to write good ad copy or be willing to learn. Ultimately, learning how to write good ad copy will make the difference between people skimming past your advertisements or being interested enough to click on the links that go to your capture pages.

There is a lot of reference information out there about how to write good ad copy and you may want to start by reading some of the blogs out there and see what others have to say. Make sure that you take note of anything that Dan Kennedy has written or commented on as this guy is one of the best!

How to Write Good Ad Copy With Your Goals in Mind

For me, there are many different types of ad copy that I may write, just sort of depends on the situation. For example, when I am posting on craigslist or some other classified site, I have a couple of goals in mind. First, I want people that are skimming through the headlines to stop when they come to my ad. Second, and really my main, solitary goal is that I want this person to click on my link for more information.

For this type of ad I want to grab attention of someone that is quickly looking through the ads by offering something different such as “Stay at home moms love this home based business” or “Work from Home Program Really Works, Really Fast” or “Fire Your Boss with This Simple Home Business.” I want to make sure that it has to do with the program or subject, but I also want to make sure that it covers a couple of things. I don’t want the person looking to think this is about a job, it’s not, it’s an opportunity.

How to Write Good Ad Copy by Not Revealing Information

The next thing you want to learn about how to write good ad copy is that you DO NOT want to provide much information, just the facts and not too many of them. Remember, you want people to click on the link, not read over your companies marvelous compensation program…who cares? You want people to hunger for more plus if you start writing a whole lot of hype many will be turned off. Once again, your goal is to get people to click on your capture page, let that do the “selling.”

I will usually repeat the headline in the body of the advertisement and then write simple facts like “No Experience Required” and “Free Training Available,” or “Training Available.” Then I’ll write something like, “For more information:” and post my link. All in all about 4 lines, no explaining, just simple statements.

The key is the headline. When learning how to write good ad copy you are primarily going to be concerned with the headline or the subject line in case you are writing an email. Keep it honest and keep it direct. People don’t want hype, just say what you have, but you are going to need to know your market. If you are targeting in on folks that are already in business then what is it about your product or service that can help them with their business.

Perhaps you know how to drive dozens of new, highly targeted visitors to a website. If so, that’s what you say, just say it with flare! “Secret Technique Generates Dozens of Qualified Leads For Anyone.”

Learning How to Write Good Ad Copy Take Practice

One thing to keep in mind when it comes to ad copy is that one article is not going to contain the “secret formula” that will have everyone clicking their way to your site. It takes time to develop the knack. Remember to set goals and objectives, understand what your audience wants and try and solve their problems whether it’s lack of money or lack of time. Tell people how you are going to solve their problem, that’s what they are looking for and that’s how to write good ad copy in the first place.

Answering the Questions of an Internet Marketing Newbie

internet marketing newbiesA lot of times when I am teaching new students or promoting a new product I will have one or two that will give me a call and ask me simple questions about marketing and I’m pretty happy to help them out if I can. Of course, I don’t know everything, but I’m always willing to share what I’ve learned over the years.

I also get receive questions such as:

How long will it take to make money with this program?

Can I really generate traffic to my site with classified ads?

Do I have to start a blog?

Do I have to own my own website?

What’s the fastest way to start making money with [insert any program here]?

What I always have to remind folks is that internet marketing is a process. It’s a process of learning and it’s a matter of developing a consistent process in terms of the actions you take to market yourself and your products or services.

But, I’ve decided to answer some of these questions as I’m betting that I’m not the only person that gets them and sometimes it is just nice to get a different, although not necessarily better, perspective!

How long will it take to make money with this program?

To be completely and absolutely honest with you, there is not really any way that I can answer this question. It depends.

I know people that can sign up for a program in the morning and be receiving money in one form or another by the evening. It all comes down to how well you can market. Ironically, people that KNOW how to market online do not answer this question…they already know whether or not they can make money with the program and generally know about how long things will take.

The better you can learn to market and the more effective you become will radically change how long it will take to make money with any program.

Can I really generate traffic to my site with classified ads?

I never understand why people ask if it is really possible to promote their sites with a method that I recommend and teach. I just want to say, “No, I’ve been lying this whole time because I just want to watch you squirm.”

You absolutely can generate traffic to your site with classified advertising if you:

  1. know where to post ads
  2. know a little about ad copy
  3. post consistently

We have all heard of craigslist.com and it gets a lot of traffic, but posting in there a few times a week and doing nothing else is not going to get you anywhere. I always teach post 3 times a day everyday, post in different cities and post links that promote curiosity in what you have to offer.

Do not try and explain the entire program you are marketing. Focus on the market you are trying to attract. For example, if I want to attract stay at home moms, then I will write a headline like:

Simple Program Allows Moms to Work From Home

Just about any stay at home mom will at least look at this ad. You would just ad in something like “No experience required, free training included,” and you would then provide information to a website or capture page. You want people to start seeking your program or system. Let the system sale the opportunity. I don’t like to sell and chances are the people answer this ad don’t want to sale either and they especially don’t want to be sold! Remember, it’s called attraction marketing.

Do I have to start a blog? or Do I have to have my own website?

I would love to tell people, “Yes, you need a blog. Your competitor has a blog or a website, your consumers want to go to a blog or website. Of course you need a blog.”

The truth is, “Not necessarily.” I highly recommend a blog, not a standard or typical website platform, but a blog. Many reasons for this, but blogs are very Google and other search engine friendly. Blogs can rank well and rank fast. Today blogs are very customizable, especially WordPress blogs with all of the different plugins you can add.

You want to start branding yourself as an online marketing professional and a blog is one of the best ways to start doing this. Basically, you want to ask yourself are you going to do this with long-term goals in mind or are you just wanting to make a hundred bucks and move on down the road. The choice is yours.

internet marketing newbieOne thing that you have to get right in the head about straight away is that marketing online is a process. There is a steep learning curve that we all must get through and the education never stops! As the internet changes, as the algorithms of the search engines change we must adapt and we must learn the new rules, but if you are willing to learn and if you are willing to put forth the consistent effort to build something grand, you will find online success.
